To Belong

Out of places, just one of many cases.
One, alone, leave me in the negative spaces.
Because when I’m with you …
There’s an emptiness, a dark abyss, something sinister amiss.
You smile, you shine and light up
Open arms ready to hug straight up
Your eyes yell, come on, come in, hurry up …
And I hesitate.
I turn around and walk away.
And now, much later, as I commiserate
To an old self that wanted to be relevant
I realize, wait I was never meant to relate
But ultimately to die in self consuming hate.
