Took For Granted

(Dedicated to Prince)

I took for Granted

— — that you would Always be there

— — — -like the Moon and The Sun and The Air that we Breath

I took for Granted

— that you would grow Old along with ME

— —with graying temples and aged lines form the wisdom you would impart

I took for Granted

— — that the MUSIC would never End

— — — turn on the Radio and there you are, timeless in a vacuum

I took for Granted

— — that the rainbows would never FADE

— — — only to see the PURPLE turn to black

I took for Granted

— — That SADNESS would never visit these halls

— — — But It Did and that’s On you but it’s not your fault

I Took for Granted

— — that I would be the one to go first

— — — but here I stand, alone in search of your hand

I took for Granted

— — That Memories are for bleeding heart softies

— — — -Until I looked back and saw yours and smiled

I took for Granted

— — What a Wonderful GIFT you had become

— — — To all of the PEOPLE and not Just ONE

I Took for Granted

— — That I would always be hearing your name

— — — Maybe it WAS better to Burn Out Than To FADE away

I Took It For Granted

— — That Prince Rogers Nelson

— — — Will forever be the Legend Known as PRINCE
