Total Sensory Deprivation

I hear your voice while going to sleep,
Every other night.
Ringing, mellifluous.
I’m not startled though-
It feels like summer warmth
Comforting my sore arteries.
You know how I like to press my ears
Against your skin when you laugh.
My blood flow picks up
Reverberations from your vocal cord;
I immerse myself in that sensation
While I close my eyes.
In these times of waking up
To night sweats and numbness
And cutting frenzies;
Your voice makes me feel like drifting in vacuum,
Letting go of my senses
Curling up,
Asleep.
