Some think
rhymin’ with no timin’
is a
poem that’s not flowin’.

Poets know it’s
likely
meter-needin’ readers
require
informin’ ’bout free formin’.

We do our word arrangin’
with the thought of changin’
someone’s mind.

Maybe it’s tweakin’ I’m speakin’
even gaffin’ so they’re laughin’
but the window-washin’ we do
just might change their view.

So don’t be doubtin’
the lesson I’m shoutin’
it’s not syllable countin’
or total words mountin’

It’s the message
