Trick-or-Treating

A tiny house on the corner
all dressed up for the party.
Porch light burning bright.
One lone family buzzed the door
the entire lonely night.

Nobody trick-or-treats in the poor neighborhood.
Nobody visits where they fear.
Costumes and chaperones in a cavalcade
to cul-de-sacs with proper lawns
and malls for concentrated treat parades.

Waiting for the right place.
Waiting for the right time.
Not holding my breath but dreaming.
The right house we will find,
a sweet location for Halloweening.

Come the chill of Autumn.
House decked out in its finery.
Glittering wrappers in a bowl,
and a hundred children at the door.
Tricking and treating a joyful life goal.
