When you’re waiting for a text
When you’re already on the verge of having spent your entire paycheck
When your phone auto-connects to a shitty wifi network

Being told what you already know
Waiting for a check to clear
Not being good at what you want to be good at

When your actions don’t match your values
When you’re not sure what you’re waiting for
When you can’t feel your connection to other people

All of it

And the sound of the wind blowing the leaves
like footsteps behind you
