We Once Were

Oh that loud hearty laughter
The depth and warmth in your eyes
The love you exuded
The affection in your touch
It was just the two of us

The emptiness came creeping
Coldness replaced the warmth
You were slipping away
I missed you so
I wanted you back
Then there was three of us
What we had you destroyed

Now she is gone
Here you are
Love notes and gift baskets
Begging to come back
Too little too late
I love you still
But I won’t have you
