Words

My words must fall lightly
like a hand on the breast
touching yet weightless
meaning unexpressed:

following the contours of discovery.

Words uttered softly,
intimate and kind,
directed to soft places,
while engaging the mind:

remembering moments of pleasure.

A word’s a word for all that
and they can be risky,
when nifty or canny
or a little too clever

or laden with secret intent.

Words then are dangerous;
we must find them together
and carefully wield them
or lose them forever.
