Wrath

Embers in my core,
this hunger that feeds me
Wishing I could explode,
consumed by this quiet defeat.
Surrounded by red, I look away
One must not be angry they say.
Bubbling through my gut
I bury it deep within.
I watch this dark cruelty
that you inflict so freely.
how do you live with yourself?
Tell me, are we the same?
If only I could find a voice
this spitting, flaming rage.
Redemption’s out of reach
And Mercy’s left the building.
I burn red and gold
and only our ashes remain.
