Simple and Mundane

How beautiful you are there, in bed still,
trying to decide if it’s worth getting up for coffee
with a stretch and a yawn that ends in a pout.

Your eyes not wanting to quite open yet,
you wiggle back under the covers for warmth
as your still sleepy mind debates this issue.

I’m fully aware of how ridiculous I am
when something as simple and mundane
as you waking up has me dying to kiss you.

But it’s everything about you, my drowsy darling,
every precious little detail that makes you you,
that makes me smile.
