Heavy is having the right to reason
bored by ignorance & folklore treason

Crooked is the road to the top of Mount Olympus
only to discover there is no true north on a compass

Dark are the parts I fail to understand
what turns a meek lamb into a fundamentalist firebrand

Wishful thinking is the concept of reincarnated karma
the idea that we’re cast into an ongoing hyperbolic drama

Deep as the sea is the urge to believe in something
intertwined with the instinct that produces offspring

The comfort of worshipping, the need to crown a king
defeating us is our ability to believe anything

Heavy hangs my searching eyelid
cast in the wrong direction, heaven forbid

Down are the beats inside my head
marching 9 8 to my deathbed
