No Parking

Parking signs in New York are quite a sight. Either official ones, or home made ones, they make me laugh all the time.

78th St, Upper East Side
  1. Is that broom supposed to also act is a slash across the circle? Or is it just decoration? So is that a P or no P?
  2. That broom makes it look like an R from a far.
  3. There’s some space in the red circle, let’s utilize that to remind people to not litter, then we wouldn’t have to clean the streets, and then we wouldn’t have to stop people from parking here.
  4. Not enough space for the time period, so we’ll abbreviate it to 9-10:30AM.
  5. MON is abbreviated with three characters, but THURS is five characters.
  6. Better make that official, let’s put DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION on it.
Park Slope, Brooklyn

This is a slightly more modern version of the one above. Again with the Don’t litter, but this time it has enough space to fit the full time window. But what is that CB6?

My favorites are the home made signs

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Barely official, they probably painted the sidewalk themselves in the middle of the night.

West Village, Mahattan

Not even passive aggressive, malice is suggested.

N 10th St, Williamsburg

Let’s just say it three times, or a final forth time.

Bond St, East Village

Or just imply it by repeating a single word.

N 6th St, Williamsburg

Accidental Klein

Crosby St, Soho, Manhattan

Someone left this sign here, maybe 70 years ago.

East Village, Manhattan

Even bikes are not spared — by the Bicycle Film Festival.

And only in New York, is just THINKING about it is not allowed.

Rockefeller Center, Manhattan
