Whether you’re a fan of basketball or not, most gamers can agree on one simple truth: NBA Jam was rad.

You know who else agrees? Original announcer for the old games Tim Kitzrow. So much so, he’s down for reprising his role for a new game in time for the game’s 25th anniversary.

In a recent ESPN interview, Kitzrow and series creator Mark Turnell both expressed interest in reviving the franchise with the help of Microsoft.

“I can’t speak anything to the specifics, but I can tell you there is movement in the works to get it done for the 25th year,” Kitzrow told ESPN. “So I’m hoping that we get a remake that does justice to the original.”

Turnell echoed this sentiment, saying “there’s so much more that can be done. It’s really sort of an untapped category, to have over-the-top NBA action with the official license.”

The NBA Jam franchise hasn’t been since 2010 with the EA published remake. While EA still holds the license to the Jam series, it would be fun to see a resurrection of one of the most fun arcade games of all time.

Plus who doesn’t want to see Anthony Davis’s giant unibrow in big head mode?
