The Fortnite team has been working on Fortnite: Battle Royale for some time now and it will finally drop for free to the public on September 26.

The game itself is a 100 player free for all using Fortnite’s dynamic environment gameplay. Everyone drops out of a battle ship, hang-glides to the ground and can do whatever they want until they’re killed (or kill everyone else). The same great Fortnite gameplay mixed with the classic battle royale format. Check out the preview here:

It seems like a cool concept and we’re excited to see if it takes off, but Epic is already running into some issues. Another battle royale type game, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, from Bluehole studio is concerned that Epic is stealing their gameplay ideas. PUBG has a really popular beta a while ago and it’s supposed to release soon. Fortnite: Battle Royale conveniently released just before PUBG and it released for free. No one really knows exactly where this will go but Bluehole has said they’re considering further action.

Until that actually takes place though, we’re looking forward to some creative battle royale action next week. To read more about Fortnite’s multiplayer check out their recent cross play incident here
