Pokémon Sun and Moon Players Get 6 Special Pikachu
Today, Nintendo is distributing some very special Pokémon to players of Sun and Moon for free. Players can get their hands on one of six different special types of Pikachu, each wearing one of the hats Ash wore over the different eras of the anime. The Pokémon all have different movesets that mirror the attacks seen to be used by the Pokémon at whatever point in the series the unique hat represents.
The event is in honor of the 20th anniversary of the original movie Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You.
You can get the first Pikachu today by going to the Mystery Gift section of the menu screen and entering the code “PIKACHU20”. Your special Pokémon will be waiting for you via the deliveryman that sits inside any Pokémon Center. It’s important to note that if you choose this Pikachu, you won’t be able to receive any of the others. You get one Pikachu, and it’s based on when you enter the code for the Mystery Gift. Here’s when to enter the code to get the Pikachu you want:
- Original Hat: September 19–25
- Ruby/Saphire Hoenn Hat: September 26 — October 2
- Diamond/Pearl Sinnoh Hat: October 3–9
- Black/White Unova Hat: October 10–16
- X/Y Kalos Hat: October 17–23
- Sun/Moon Alola Hat: October 24–30
