From the creators of Red vs. Blue and RWBY, Rooster Teeth recently released their first episode for a lovable 2-D animated series, Nomad of Nowhere. Developed by Jordan Cwierz, Miles Luna, and Eddy Rivas, the multi-talented animation team set out to give the audience a charming/comedic adventure. The story starts out following the escapades of a stern Captain and her very optimistic companion on the trail of a dangerous criminal. Set in a wild western land, it reminds me of Looney Tunes era cartoons with hilariously directed sound effects. Just as important (if not more) as every other aspect of the show, are the voices.

If you watched RWBY, you may have recognized one of the main characters voices. Skout is already my favorite character because of how clueless and childlike she is. Voiced by the talented Elizabeth Maxwell who voiced Winter Schnee in RWBY, her character is brought to life through her sort of childlike wonder demeanor. Also appearing in the first episode and presumably the series are the voices of Danu Uribe, Ryan Haywood, and Eddy Rivas just to name a few.

Director Jordan Cwierz had this to say in a post before the initial release of the series:

“Today we announced a new show coming to Rooster Teeth Animation, a 2D show called Nomad of Nowhere. Whenever we choose to make a new show, we try to make it something fresh and different from things we’ve done in the past, and Nomad is no exception. It’s a western/fantasy mash-up about a mysterious nomad traversing a western wasteland that hasn’t seen magic in 100 years. But now there’s a price on his head, and he’s gonna have to avoid bounty hunters and captors who all want to score big when they bring in the world’s last magical being. Think of it as two-parts Samurai Jack and True Grit with just a dash of The Lord of the Rings.

“There’s something for everyone in Nomad of Nowhere; we’ll be telling an epic tale filled with fun new characters, with plenty of humor and light-hearted moments to go alongside it. We’ve developed a beautiful art style to showcase the unique setting of Nowhere: an unforgiving and harsh landscape home to fantastic creatures and a diverse cast of characters. And of course, our kickass animation team is going to make it the best looking 2D show you’ll ever see. Needless to say, I’m excited for everyone to see it.

“So who is the mysterious Nomad? You’ll have to wait and see. We’ll be teasing more details as we get closer to the release in the spring. Until then, get hyped for a new RT Animation show! Thanks y’all!”

I’m excited to see how the rest of the series plays out. With series like RWBY and Red vs. Blue, Rooster Teeth made headlines internationally, so it will be interesting to see if this show can have that big of an impact or if it will stay within Rooster Teeth’s fan base. Either way, I’m on board and look forward to projects like this in the future.
