30 Days to a Less Powerful Nation
Our twist on the classic “30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary,” with what we think are some of the best words to describe the Trump Administration’s actions
As the White House has declared English as the only official language in the United States, we have found ourselves harkening back to our high school days of using ‘big words’ from the English language in futile efforts to be elitist; to attempt to speak in code.
English is not the easiest language to learn: “I before E, except after C” (Well, that would imply Mr. Trump knows how to spell “conscience” correctly), “house” is pluralized as “houses”, but “mouse” becomes “mice”. That sort of thing. And feel free to look up how many definitions there are for the word “run.”
Many of our codeword insults to our peers emanated from the book 30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary, which our freshman English class used. Ours was a later version of the Funk & Lewis classic paperback book, originally published in 1942.
Today, in the first 30+ days of taking office, President Trump and his elitist minions are making us a less effective and more unkind nation, one Executive Order at a time. Their farcical actions speak much louder than their shallow words.
