London’s March for the Children of Ukraine
A brief report from the heart of the British capital on International Children’s Day
This Sunday, June 1, when Ukraine and many other countries celebrated International Children’s Day, I took part in a rally in support of Ukrainian children in central London. The rally was organized by the Stop Trump Coalition and Ukraine Solidarity Campaign.
The Stop Trump Coalition was founded in the United Kingdom following Donald Trump’s first election as US president to challenge his politics of hatred and division. In June 2019, when Trump visited the UK, the coalition mobilized hundreds of thousands of people in London and across the country. Even now, in Trump’s second term, people in the UK and around the world continue to resist Trump and Trumpism.
On the first Sunday in June, the Stop Trump Coalition and Ukraine Solidarity Campaign held an important event in London: The March for the Children of Ukraine. The march took place at Marble Arch near the northeast corner of Hyde Park.
