Zelensky in London Wins Time for his Country

European leaders gathered in London on Sunday to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, following a disastrous Oval Office meeting in which he was accused of being “ungrateful” for U.S. military support and told that Ukraine could not win the war.
The recently proposed Anglo-French-led peace effort, discussed in London on Sunday, according to the Ukrainian leader, would bear fruit “in the coming weeks.” It also indicated there were supportive declarations from many EU and NATO countries including Turkey, the Balts and the Nordics.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer outlined a plan to support Ukraine, including continuing the flow of aid to Ukraine and keeping up economic pressure on Russia. He said that any lasting peace agreement must guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty and security, and that Ukraine must be at the negotiating table.
In the event of a deal, Starmer stated that Europe will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine to deter future military action by Russia. He also mentioned the formation of a “coalition of the willing” to assist in defending Ukraine.
