Polis Core

A new version of Polis Core, v1.6.0, has been released. This version addresses some issues that we found in the previous release, and also introduces new security measures to the network:

— Long Living Masternode Quorums (LLMQ): is a deterministic subset of the global deterministic masternode list. The main task of an LLMQ is to perform threshold signing of consensus related messages.

— ChainLocks: a technology for near-instant confirmation of blocks and finding near-instant consensus on the longest valid/accepted chain.

— Proof-of-service ban for masternodes (PoSe): masternodes that fail PoSe verification will then be removed from the correct masternode subset.

— This release also fixes the stake freeze issue and some visual bugs.

All users must update this wallet before block: 527920 (around 28/01/2020), which triggers the full deterministic behavior (for more information on PoSe activation and specifics, please head to our Discord server and check out the #pose-faq channel).

After the activation of the Proof-of-Service ban, all masternodes are going to start checking against each other, which means that masternodes that are not synced with the network and available for network services be banned and be no more rewarded.

If you host your masternode on PolisNodes, all the updates are going to be managed by the PolisNodes support team; no modification is required from the users.

To update your masternodes

Reindex or bootstrap is required.

To sync the masternodes with the script, you must use these commands inside your VPS:

rm polis_update.sh* && wget -q https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cryptosharks131/Polis/master/polis_update.sh
bash polis_update.sh

To sync the masternodes manually, we have provided a bootstrap that we highly recommend everyone to use:

PolisPay

We recently released a new PolisPay update, v8.2.1. This release will address some issues that we found in the previous versions and introduce the long-awaited dark mode, alongside some minor bug fixes.

Due to some unmet App Store guidelines regarding in-app purchases, gift cards will be temporarily disabled only on the iOS version until further notice. The team is currently evaluating and working on different possibilities to bring back this feature to the platform, which we will provide an update about this situation next week.

‪This update was released with the following release notes:

— Fixes an issue where some modals appeared transparent.‬ ‪

— Fixed light mode displaying the wrong colors.‬

Partnership announcement

We are glad to announce the inclusion of Litecoin to the PolisPay payment platform.

Litecoin has focused on delivering a blockchain that is capable of handling higher transaction volume than other cryptocurrencies, with faster transaction confirmation times. This enables Litecoin users to realize instant, near-zero cost payments to anyone in the world. Due to more frequent block generation, the network supports more transactions without a need to modify the software in the future. We have found great potential in the PolisPay project, and we believe this breakthrough will have a profound impact on Litecoin users and the whole crypto community.

PolisPay: epay card showcase

We love to see our community members share their experience with our products, that is why we decided to share every week on Medium and Twitter the posts of our community using our products, whether that is the gift cards or any of the cards.
If you have a Twitter account, feel free to post the image, tag us, and write #PolisPayShowcase.
On Discord, post your images at the #showcase channel.

This week, community member Hans recently used the epay card to buy batteries at the convenience store! See what he posted:

Want to join the fun? Order the card here.

If you would like to know more about the epay, head to this post:

PolisPay: UnionPay cards

Regarding the PolisPay cards, there are some updates with the on-going process we would like to share:

— The UnionPay cards have arrived at our office.

— We are waiting on some documents for the API.

Governance

Polis blockchain governance tools

A year ago, we had some useful tools to view governance information and send proposals. These pages became obsolete, as we migrated to DIP3 and the developers that were maintaining them left the POLIS community.

With that in mind, we decided to pay a group of developers to migrate these two projects to be compatible with POLIS codebase:

We are asking for 2800 POLIS, as a one-time payment.

1800 POLIS will be used for adapting these projects to POLIS codebase and maintaining the code in case of a future update, and 1000 POLIS will be locked in a masternode and will be used to cover the server fees.
