Polis Core

A new version of Polis Core, v1.6.0, has been released. This version addresses some issues that we found in the previous release, and also introduces new security measures to the network:

— Long Living Masternode Quorums (LLMQ): is a deterministic subset of the global deterministic masternode list. The main task of an LLMQ is to perform threshold signing of consensus related messages.

— ChainLocks: a technology for near-instant confirmation of blocks and finding near-instant consensus on the longest valid/accepted chain.

— Proof-of-service ban for masternodes (PoSe): masternodes that fail PoSe verification will then be removed from the correct masternode subset.

— This release also fixes the stake freeze issue and some visual bugs.

All users must update this wallet before block: 527920 (around 28/01/2020), which triggers the full deterministic behavior (for more information on PoSe activation and specifics, please head to our Discord server and check out the #pose-faq channel).

After the activation of the Proof-of-Service ban, all masternodes are going to start checking against each other, which means that masternodes that are not synced with the network and available for network services be banned and be no more rewarded.

If you host your masternode on PolisNodes, all the updates are going to be managed by the PolisNodes support team; no modification is required from the users.

To update your masternodes

Reindex or bootstrap is required.

To sync the masternodes with the script, you must use these commands inside your VPS:

rm polis_update.sh* && wget -q https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cryptosharks131/Polis/master/polis_update.sh
bash polis_update.sh

To sync the masternodes manually, we have provided a bootstrap that we highly recommend everyone to use:

Polis Core: block reward reduction

This past Saturday, 25th of January 2020, upon reaching block height 525,600, we had a 20% block reward reduction, a “fifthening.”

The block reward will drop from 16 to 12.8 POLIS per block.

The new block reward structure is as follows :

— Masternodes: 9.22 POLIS

— Staking: 2.30 POLIS

— Governance: 1.28 POLIS

Next 20% reduction will happen at block height 788,400 (approximately 380 days from now)

Polis (POLIS) will soon be listed on WhiteBIT; you will be able to trade Polis on the following pair:

PolisPay Card

We are thrilled to announce that the PolisPay card is back.

As part of our goal of implementing a debit card, that would allow any user to spend their crypto as quickly as they would using fiat currency, we started negotiations with card provider Union Pay, who opened up the possibility of using their cards within our app.

That is why we have finalized the process of negotiation and will begin the new process of developing the integration of prepaid Union Pay cards to the PolisPay app. Users will soon be able to use a debit card to spend their crypto on real-world goods and services.

Launch of the Closed Beta

We currently have 500 cards available to start the process of the closed beta. You can start signing up for the closed beta here. The people that participated in the past beta will receive a card.

If you want to learn more about the UnionPay card or have some questions regarding the closed beta, head to our official announcement here.

PolisPay: partnership announcement

We are glad to announce the inclusion of Groestlcoin to the PolisPay payment platform.

Groestlcoin has primarily focused on bringing constant technological advancement and becoming a fast and secure coin, that is privacy oriented. Groestlcoin was the first blockchain to activate Segwit and Lightning Network main-net transactions; this enabled its users to have almost zero-fee transactions, instant payments, scalability, and Atomic Swaps. We have found great potential in the PolisPay project, and we believe this breakthrough will have a profound impact on Groestlcoin users and the whole crypto community.

Community Management and Outreach

Community members, Hans and Frank, have developed a PolisPay mobile landing page that allows any user to share the PolisPay related info to anyone in the world, in just a few taps. For the landing page here, and for a tutorial on how to upload it head here.

Also, Hans created a tool that allows users to gift Polis in a much easier way; this could be to give a tip at a restaurant, a simple gift, or price. Here’s the link for the gift QR, also here’s a short tutorial on how to load them.
