After a long process and work in conjunction with the innovative minds and hard-working developers from the Polis project, we are glad to announce the inclusion of BitGreen to the PolisPay payment platform.

Even as cryptocurrency and its community of users have experienced significant growth in popularity and use, liquidity remains a substantial challenge for the whole industry, hindering its mass adoption and its integration into ordinary life.

BitGreen has designed a revolutionary new consensus mechanism called ‘The Green Protocol’, an energy-efficient, extremely fast proof-of-stake, and masternode mining agreement to act as a sustainable replacement for Bitcoin’s current proof-of-work algorithm, a solution to the problematic exponential increase in energy consumed by other proof-of-work currencies. BitGreen is the sustainable cryptocurrency built for energy-efficient transactions on the green blockchain.

Entering 2020, BitGreen has released an ambitious roadmap underpinned by the vision of building an ecosystem that incentives and promotes greener behaviours. The community can participate and be rewarded in BITG through their conscious choices to take pool rides, buying from merchants that sell sustainably manufactured goods, or participating in any supported campaigns. Development will include a mobile app that will become a central point of engagement for users to not only transact BITG but explore, participate and redeem rewards for their greener behaviours. Merchants can leverage a BitGreen Shopify integration, enabling acceptance of BITG payments within their existing e-commerce website. As always, the community is at the heart of the project and there will be further community-determined proposals and voting for incentivised campaigns, governance budgets and more as the year progresses.

The PolisPay Platform

The PolisPay concept was proposed in 2017 to bring real-world use cases to cryptocurrencies. This would be done through the implementation of a series of features that would enable our users to spend their digital assets on real-world goods and services.

We can make our vision through the PolisPay app, which is a multi-currency non-custodial wallet with features intended to bridge the non-crypto world to the crypto future.

One of those features is the Epay Mastercard® card, which is a card that you can top-up from within the app itself, using your BitGreen.

We also have the feature of gift cards, which enables you to use your cryptocurrencies in the real world goods and services. We support over 30+ countries for this feature and a low fee.

Also, with the Shift feature, you can instantly convert your BitGreen to other cryptocurrencies from within your light wallet.

When we say that this version of the PolisPay app is the most secure ever, we mean it, especially now that we have implemented Trezor support. Desktop users can now save their crypto assets in the safest way possible via Trezor hardware wallets.

The implementation of these features allows us to further integrate the use of digital currencies into people’s daily expenses, narrowing the barrier between their digital assets and real-world items.

Epay Mastercard® card

Discord user, Trecky, shares his experience buying groceries with the epay card.

Part of the new features introduced on PolisPay comes a new way for our users to use their BitGreen to buy real-world goods and services, with a card that is accepted almost anywhere in the world.

It consists of a prepaid Mastercard® card, that can be recharged via the new feature of the PolisPay app: The gift cards.

The epay card is a prepaid card that is managed on a prepaid basis. You can use your card to pay almost everywhere where MasterCard® is accepted. Once the card is activated and topped up, you can use it worldwide: For online shopping, to pay in shops, or to withdraw cash from an ATM.

The epay card Prepaid Mastercard® is embossed and does not feature a name on the card. This enables you to pay anonymously online and offline up to €100. Should you wish to spend more, you can identify yourself within minutes using the Bitcou video identification procedure and thus immediately increase your monthly limit to €4,000 (annually: €36,000).

The card can be ordered through Bitcou GmbH. The recharge is then possible via gift card through the PolisPay App in €100, €50, and €25. For the shipping of a single card and activation, Bitcou charges €20. PolisPay is the first app in the world where you can load the card with crypto.

The epay cards are available for the following countries:

Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and United Kingdom.

You can start to order the card by clicking here.

The new Union Pay card

As part of our goal of implementing a debit card couple that would allow any user to spend BitGreen as quickly as you would using fiat currency, we started negotiations with card provider Union Pay, who opened up the possibility of using their cards within our app.

That is why we have finalized the process of negotiation and have started the process of developing the integration of prepaid Union Pay cards to the PolisPay app. Users will soon be able to use a debit card to spend their BitGreen on real-world goods and services.

The process works in a way that merchants get paid in their currency while you are charged in BitGreen from your prepaid balance. This guarantees that users will be able to pay for things, in establishments where cryptocurrencies are not fully adopted yet. Soon you will be spending your BitGreen everywhere!
