What if Democracy did not exist.
La démocratie “est le pire des régimes à l’exception de tous les autres déjà essayés” (Churchill). Et si la démocratie n’existait pas nous serions tous soumis aux affres d’un affreux pouvoir. Nous serions tous à se marcher les uns sur les autres pour espérer un peu plus de liberté . Encore plus de violence, encore plus de guerre, de torture mentale et psychologique. Mais si les hommes étaient tous bons ? Ne serait il pas possible de créer un régime ou tout le monde trouverait son compte comme dans la fable des Troglodytes (Montesquieu) ? Chacun doit pouvoir trouver sa place dans la société et être libre de choisir la vie qu’il entend. Si les Hommes s’ aimaient nous n’aurions pas à choisir le moins pire des régimes , mais le régime qui satisfait les volontés de tous : les plus riches comme le plus démunis.

We would all be walking on top of each other to hope for a little more freedom. Even more violence, even more war, mental and psychological torture. But what if the men were all good? Would not it be possible to create a regime where everyone would find his account as in the fable of the Troglodytes (Montesquieu)? Everyone must be able to find his place in society and be free to choose the life he wants. If Men loved, we would not have to choose the least worst of the regimes, but the regime that satisfied the wishes of all: the richest as well as the most disavantaged.
