On the last night of the Democratic National Convention Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, sat and spoke just about a mile away from a one of the 300+ wildfires currently burning in the golden state.

Governor Gavin Newsom’s DNC Speech

Newsom’s push for climate awareness was one of the deeper detailed speeches on climate change during the DNC last week. He shared with us that California is getting “hotter and hotter” as temperatures rise and hit 130 degrees just a couple weeks ago. According to a piece written by Jason Samenow of the Washington Post, this temperature could be “among the top-three highest temperatures ever measured on the planet”.

After providing multiple repercussions from climate change in just California alone, Gavin Newsom faithfully claims “Climate change is real” extending an invitation to unbelievers to come visit the state and experience these fires and heat waves for their selves.

I’ve heard many people bring up the fact that the corona-virus has drowned out so many different issues occurring in our country today, systemic racism, under-funded education, and climate change are just a few to name. I admire those who have been outliers speaking about the other equally important issues that need to be resolved within this election, especially how boldly the Governor of California spoke last week.

Newsom continued, bringing up the multiple lawsuits the state is involved in with the Trump administration (numbering over 90) and Trumps claim that the wildfires are a direct result of the forests not being managed well.

To finish his 3:00 minute speech, Gavin Newsom expressed his gratitude to the Biden family and shared why it’s important to him to vote for Joe Biden, “The future isn’t something to experience, it’s something to manifest.” encouraging voters everywhere to make voting their active decision.
