What Political Communication?

Political communication is a term that doesn’t have a specific meaning. It has so many broad definitions that could confuse its importance. It could be verbal or written, paralinguistic signs, and even visual means. But what matters in this context is that content and purpose are the main factors of shaping it. Also, there are 3 range of actors that are involved in political communication: Communication by politicians, to politicians and about politicians. Every range differs from the other by the way it represents it in the media, in order to show the cooperation between politics and society, and how the information is being send to people. Nowadays, technology and social media has taken the leading part in sharing the news and every political/social events happening all over the world.

On the other hand, politics in Lebanon is extremely complicated that its society doesn’t even know what’s going on around in the country. Normally, the government in other countries is ruling the whole country, of course, with the help of the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. In Lebanon, the political ideology isn’t clear, and everyone is confused. The president of the country is nearly just for filling the spot, while the major decisions are taken by the other political parties, which is creating a huge dilemma in the country over the years. Therefore, the type of politics and society is blurred and still pending. Some say that it’s a democratic/liberal countries (comparing to other Arab countries), but what’s known for sure is that it is about to be shifted to a “hybrid democracy” or “part dictatorship”. This problem is affecting at all levels the society and politics inside/outside the country, and people are being aware of this issue. In fact, they are being drifted away among the years with the horrible decisions that they, themselves are taking by choosing the wrong people to rule our country and the horrible way to show them on media. Hopefully, there should be some major solutions for these complications happening in Lebanon, and media should be the first to speak about it.
