During the Kavanaugh hearing, I heard a certain disgusting defense of Kavanaugh repeated by several Republican politicians. They all agreed that Dr. Ford was sexually abused, but just not by Brett Kavanaugh. Although Dr. Ford asserted that she was “100%” certain that it was Kavanaugh, republicans shook their heads and doubted her. Then, they actually tried to convince America, that the victim is wrong! Ironically, this air of supremacy has shaped almost every piece of republican legislation. Republicans assert that they know better than a woman that she should keep her kid. Republicans assert that they know better than someone seeking welfare, if they really need it or if they are just trying to “milk the system”. To the disagreement of almost every scientist in the field, republicans know better than them about global warming. The list goes on and on.
Could anything be more offensive and disgusting than telling a sex abuse victim that they don’t remember the traumatic experience properly. The republican senators did not doubt that a crime took place, but they asserted that Dr. Ford’s memory was bad. Yes, you were sexually abused, but just not by the guy you claim. Past couple of days, I’ve been trying to figure out why any grown man would be so demeaning to a woman, as to doubt an experience that traumatized her.
Republicans are in a tight box. With Donald Trump as their leader, they are just endlessly bouncing from wall to wall.
Republicans will admit, not everyone is going to like their legislation, but in the end, they expect their voters to give them the benefit of the doubt. The hardest battle they ever fought was to destroy Obamacare. While Obama was in office, republicans tried 67 times to destroy Obamacare. Then, during the election, they promised America that if elected, Obamacare would be fully repealed, GOP Spending Against Obamacare Plummets In 2018 Elections.
So what happened? They did win and Obamacare keeps on truckin’. Now, the same republicans who promised to kill Obamacare are defending it. Turns out, Obamacare was good. Republicans were just hoping voters would give them the benefit of the doubt and vote something that would help them and their family.
These politicians are motivated by concerns over whether the Trump administration’s argument to gut popular provisions of the Affordable Care Act could win in a federal court. If those efforts are successful, tens of millions of people could stand to lose access to affordable health insurance that includes coverage for pre-existing conditions.
There’s no way Congress is going to repeal protections for people with pre-existing conditions who want to buy health insurance,” said Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander, chairman of the Senate’s Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee.
This is what democrats said during the election. The republicans kept repeating these lies, and eventually the voters believed them. Republican politicians used mentions of Obamacare repeal to fire up their uneducated base. During the election, those republican politicians actually advocated taking away healthcare to their supporters children. They read the same facts and figures about Obamacare that democrats read. In an attempt to get elected, republicans tried to convince their voters to vote against something that would help them.
If you didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton, you were also tricked by the sneaky republican.
The same republican mentality goes for abortion. Republicans try to convince America that they know better than women. Old and creepy Mitch McConnell is going to devise legislation that affects the life of your child. You can’t decide. You are not smart enough to make that decision for yourself. Republican advise is to just trust the wisdom of Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham.
Dr. Ford’s brave testimony has immortalized her. She will always be a hero. Yet, these disgusting republicans sat around and tried to convince America that she just didn’t remember this traumatizing experience correctly. Disgusting! Did you hear Senator Lindsay Graham Oscar worthy performance. He got so enraged that the democrats wanted to investigate the numerous sexual abuse allegations of a Supreme Court judicial nominee. That guy defines evil. His analysis of the day was that,
Miss Ford has got a problem, and destroying Judge Kavanaugh’s life won’t fix her problem.”
He went on to say,
Everything I believed I knew about Brett Kavanaugh, I am now more convinced than ever that he didn’t do it, that he’s the right guy to be on the court,” Graham said. “To my friends on the other side, I would never have done this to one of your nominees, you should be ashamed.”
How can he be so sure? I wonder if they would be so hurtful and belittling if it was their daughter’s accusations.
It all comes down to money. When republicans try to convince us that Obamacare is good, when in fact it will help us, they are just following the orders of their big donors. Same with when republicans try to take away welfare that puts food on some struggling families table. By taking away welfare, republican politicians are able to supply a nicer tax break to their big donors.
