Kenneth Copeland is a very big preacher. He has a show on TBN, Trinity Broadcasting Network. The Texas preacher and his wife, Gloria, have held their Southwest Believers’ Convention in Cowtown for more than three decades. Thousands of people, from all over the world, gather for this religious occasion, Star-telegram article.

Last year, during one of his highly publicized sermons he said,

If Christians don’t support Trump, they are risking the wrath of God. Trump has been chosen by God, and by rejecting him, they are rejecting God. They could be punished with barrenness, poverty, or even having a gay child.”

You read that right. You will have gay children, if you don’t support Donald Trump.

I could hear the gasps of astonishment that must have filtered through that church!

Gone are the days when your preacher might condemn an adulterer, or one who mocks the handicap, or one who brags about not paying his taxes, or one who settles a lawsuit for stealing tuition money from little children. Nowadays, there are preachers whom will glorify individuals guilty of all of the above!

Mary Colbert is another popular Evangelical leader. She voiced similar damnation to those who denounce Donald Trump.

“It’s not that Donald Trump is all that perfect of a guy. We all know he’s not. And we know that he’s not necessarily perfect in every way that we would like. That’s not how God works. He works through the ones he chooses. We don’t choose them.”

“All we have to do is recognize them and when you recognize a chosen one and you have the discernment to know that they’ve been chosen and know that that’s the will of God, then your life will be blessed. And if you come against the chosen one of God, you are bringing upon you and your children and your children’s children curses like you have never seen. It puts a holy fear in me.”

That seems like a very easy choice to me. Do I support Donald Trump and become blessed? Or do I resist him? Remember, if I choose the second option I’m cursed, my kids are cursed and their kids are cursed. This is a real no-brainer.

I reckon, such a demented chain of logic justifies why eight out of every ten evangelicals went for Trump.

Democrats assumed releasing Donald Trump’s disgusting Access Hollywood tape, would have surely soiled his image in the eyes of the respectable religious crowd. Shockingly it didn’t. The religious right were more offended with Hillary’s charity that saves thousands of impoverished children a year, than with Donald Trump’s weird hobby of “grabbing women by the pu**y.”

Lance Wallnau, a Texas evangelical preacher, explained to Pat Robertson, why the religious right chose to ignore such crude remarks.

“The 700 Club,” Wallnau explained that the man and the tape were all a part of God’s plan. “The only reason this could happen is because God allowed it because God is actually letting this man experience humbling because he really didn’t have anything he could think of repenting before, but now he’s got something,” Wallnau said. Interpretation : Donald Trump was such a pure and virtuous little angel, that he never committed a sin. Hence, God planted these sinful words in his mouth, so that Trump would now have to repent.

Exactly one year ago, during the month of April 2016, there were 12 reported cases of religious right conservative preachers molesting little children. I wonder when each of them went before the judge, if they tried to claim the same defense, would the judge turn the other cheek? Rawstory article
