Trump Doesn’t Care about a Wall, He Just Wants to Divide America
It is doubtful the wall will ever be built. However, it is also doubtful that Trump would be in the White House today had he never proposed building it. As soon as he mentioned his wall, a third of the country was in his pocket. Literally, in his pocket. The more angry he makes his supporters, the more loyal they become.
When Trump is out of office, if he isn’t working a chain gang, he’ll start TrumpTV. A $199 annual subscription fee will be a 24/7 stream of everything about the wall. Questionable how much demand there would be about the wall, if it was built. If there was a wall, and every night on the news we watched how severely ineffective it was, I’d assume there’d be less demand to subscribe to TrumpTV.
A third of the country has been rallying behind Trump’s silly wall idea ever since he mentioned it. The more backlash to the wall, the more they support it. According to Trump, the wall is defending his supporter’s jobs, their daughters, and their fragmented patriotism. A third of the country is more passionate about this wall than anything else.
Republicans didn’t give Trump funding for the wall when they controlled Washington. Democrats aren’t giving Trump funding for the wall now. Trump supporters acknowledge that the wall is a battle between Trump and the establishment. Trump is their only defender.
So when the wall is not built, loyalty for Trump will only be magnified. When that day comes, Trump will stoke the passions of his supporters, by reminding them of their defeat and reminding them how the establishment is their enemy.
Trump’s signature attitude is defiance. His supporters see voting for him as a way to defy the Republican Party establishment. “I want to see Trump go up there and do damage to the Republican Party,” one Mississippi voter told the New York Times. An Arizona voter said, “We’re going to use Donald Trump to either take over the GOP or blow it up.” — Reuters
All Trump cares about is money. A divided America will be very profitable for Trump. Just about all of Trump’s platforms are as divisive as the wall. Like his weird obsession with athletes saluting the flag. Although Trump doesn’t even know the words to the national anthem, he proposed fining athletes who kneeled during it.
The fact that Trump only hires immigrants at his resorts reveals how he really feels about immigration. Just a few months ago, while he was demonizing foreigners to his supporters, Trump was hiring foreigners over Americans.
The single most important characteristic of our government, is that the three branches are “separate but equal”. The president can not shut down the government simply because his acid-induced hallucinatory wall is not accepted by anyone else. Its not like the wall was a close vote. Republicans did not even approve it.
Trump doesn’t care about these issues. He based his entire presidency on them because a divided America is far more profitable.
