How can half of America think not counting votes cast is acceptable

The right to vote is established in the US Constitution and by state law. Assumed in this right is that the vote will be counted.

Let’s pose a question: how is it that in 2020, in the United States of America, every single citizen does not know that votes cast are votes that by law must be counted?

Many Trump supporters simply don’t understand this simple nuance, it seems. Votes cast, be they on election day, or mailed in and received in a manner that abides by local laws, have to be counted. This is the backbone of our democracy. You have a right to cast a vote and expect that the vote will be counted.

President Trump’s diseased calls for stopping the counting of votes translates simply as this — where I am ahead, stop the counting of illegal votes; where I am behind, count all the votes until I take a lead and then stop. If I don’t get the lead, then it was fraudulent counting.

Donald Trump is not dumb. A dumb person doesn’t make it as far as the White House so something is going on in his head — even if it is utterly obsessed with self. His stupidity, however, lies in his failure to understand anything about America. He is 74-years old and rightly believes that by…
