A bridge collapsed in Pittsburgh the other day just hours before President Biden was scheduled to arrive to tout his successful, bipartisan infrastructure legislation.

Surely lunatics on the right are already circulating theories that it was the Biden people themselves that “crashed” the bridge to show how relevant his successful — I repeat “bipartisan” — legislation was.

I can hear my buddy, a right-winger whose affinity for Trumpism is now cloaked by the words “I am really a libertarian,” saying “You think that bridge just fell on its own?” His question suggests the inevitable conspiracy.

Ten people were injured — four of them taken to hospitals — after a bridge collapsed just before rush hour on Pittsburgh’s east end Friday morning. On the way to his pre-scheduled speech at Mill 19 in Hazelwood, Biden visited the collapse site where he met with local and state officials, including Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who braved the below-freezing temperatures wearing shorts.
