Can the 14th Amendment be Used to Prevent Trump From Running in 2024?

It all depends on how you interpret the wording

It’s pretty clear that Trump is planning to run for president in 2024. Thanks to the debacle in Afghanistan, Biden’s support is slipping. There is concern that in a head-to-head contest, Trump would beat Biden.

I’m not worried about that for two reasons. One, Biden most likely won’t be running in 2024 and two, a lot can happen between now and 2024 that could cause Biden to regain popularity.

I’m also seeing more and more comments that say not to worry about Trump running because he will be convicted of various unnamed crimes and in jail rather than on the campaign trail.

Not gonna happen.

Even if Trump were convicted of insurance fraud and tax fraud, he would never go to jail. That would just infuriate his supporters. I wouldn’t put it past them to try and break him out of jail. At the very least there would be violence all over the country.

No one wants that.

So if he isn’t sitting in jail cell at a supermax somewhere (to prevent his supporters from trying to break him out), he would be free to run for president.
