Climate of Extremes
A poem
snow on the first day of school
how quaint, snow makes things
muffling family turmoil with jingle bells
look at this town that was raining ashes
the day before — apocalyptic burning
of our wild, wild west
it isn’t the aerosols locking doors and windows
focus — earth keeps screaming for awakening
she eventually rolls her eyes, turns away
nope, we’ll never change
the melt will cause some serious sludge
for summering…
