Catholic bishops want to smite Joe Biden, but he can’t actually have an abortion

There is a big distinction between faith and religion. So please understand that what I am criticizing is organized religion, not faith or even belief. This distinction may not matter in the end as some religious leaders seem determined to continue their march towards irrelevancy.

In another stunning example of an alienating power play, this week the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops voted 168 to 55 to approve a “teaching document” hoping to rebuke Catholic politicians who support abortion rights. They might not stop with a slap on the wrist. Some have called to also deny communion as well.

Why the fervor over this now? Well, it’s been brewing for a while. And obviously, the target is Joe Biden, the president of the United States, one of the most prominent roles in the world. So what has Biden said on abortion? In his own words; “I accept church rule personally, but not in public life.” “Reproductive rights are a constitutional right. And, in fact, every woman should have that right.”
