I was a mere ten years old and home from school on January 20, 1961. A major snowstorm had swept through the South and Midwest forcing schools to be closed before it moved eastward to the Atlantic seaboard. On inauguration day in Washington, snow blanketed the city and complicated the overall logistics for the inauguration of the newly elected president, John F. Kennedy.
