“When you have a stroke, your brain isn’t getting the blood it needs. You need treatment right away to lower your chances of brain damage, disability, or even death.” — WebMD

Becoming a fascist is quite similar. If your condition is not treated immediately when you show the warning signs, you become a candidate for brain damage, inability to think clearly, and even death due to poor choices.

The following indicators are provided in hopes that you will seek treatment prior to becoming irreparably harmed. And if you see someone you love exhibiting these signs of fascism, try to get help for them as soon as possible. Occasionally people do recover.

The Seven Signs

  • Your version of patriotism is unquestionable. Anyone finding fault is a traitor.
  • Most of the nice folk who were once your friends have become oblivious fools.
  • You long for a time when things were so much better, back before all of your problems were caused by the nefarious actions of others.
  • You love your leader and believe that his or her actions are dictated by concern for your best interests. You believe that only that particular leader and their particular political platform are capable of solving society’s ills.
  • You know it’s us vs. them. There is only one true path, and it is clearly not the middle. There is no middle ground. You’re either with us, or against us.
  • You are convinced compromise leads to mediocre solutions, at best, and should be avoided at all costs.
  • Unquestionably, empathy is a characteristic of the weak. And those who are weak became that way by their own doing. Coddling them makes their lot worse.

Treatment

Though recovery is altogether too rare, it is possible. Follow these steps to extricate yourself from the grip of fascism.

  • Take personal responsibility for your own condition.
  • Embrace constructive criticism. Not all who differ are wrong.
  • Disengage from all news reports.
  • If you must maintain political involvement, do your own research.
  • Discuss politics with no one.
  • Study history. Understand how fascism infects societies, and where the infection leads.

If you need help, do not hesitate to contact Fascists Anonymous (FA). The support provided by this organization attempts to save the health and welfare of the afflicted. Unfortunately, you are not alone.
