While in office as the celebrated Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani was a high-flying baller. He would frequently be spotted at pricey eateries and hotels, enjoyed the look and feel of a $7,000 fountain pen, and once dropped $40,000 for a friend’s son’s dental work according to court document filings by his ex-wife.

It didn’t seem like Rudy was preparing for a rainy day — but it came. He eventually left public office and most of his income since was made working legal gigs here and there.

He’s reported to have done security and legal consulting for numerous corporations, foreign governments, and high-profile clients ranging from political opposition groups, some oligarchs, and a certain Turkish-Iranian gold trader who is reportedly wanted by the U.S. government.

Trump seemed to struggle to find a place for Giuliani in his administration given his unique experience of working with criminals and individuals of questionable character.

Albeit wanting to draw from his special expertise for something he wanted to get done, Trump was rumored to have considered him for Secretary of State but later had him briefly serve as his informal cybersecurity adviser before settling on…
