This is What Evil Sounds Like
Dmitry Puchkov says the unspeakable out loud
Everybody wants to be a pundit. It's a good gig if you can get it. That's how most media outlets refer to Dmitry "Goblin" Puchkov, the Russian blogger, writer, and film reviewer.
"Goblin" had three million YouTube subscribers before the platform booted him for hate speech in August 2022. Until then, he incited anti-Ukrainian hysteria, spread pro-Putin propaganda, shared recipes, and lectured on cinematography.
But Puchkov is like one of those Russian nesting dolls that separate to reveal more dolls inside, a matryoshka. Putin's media puppet isn't going anywhere. He's the Russian equivalent of Tucker Carlson.
Julia Davis, the creator of Russian Media Monitor, recently uploaded Puchkov's interview with the host of Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, Ivan Pankin.
Davis launched her political blog in 2014 to monitor and translate pro-Kremlin media like Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda.
