It’s no secret that Trump’s followers have elevated him to a divine status. Still, when the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) kicked off their annual event this year with a biblical twist, it showed just how far the Republican party has strayed. They worship Trump with an unhealthy reverence. Trumpians want to remake the Republican party in his image, a gilded idol for generations to deify.

Trump, scheduled to speak at conference close, had been relatively quiet since Twitter cast him out of social media heaven. What were his poor followers to do without their dear leader? They craved the proclamations in Trump’s incessant tweeting. They didn’t know where to turn or what to believe. Who will tell them what is true and what is “fake news” in his absence?
