Church Pastors sue to allow guns in church … and win

I mean come on, what was New York thinking? Legislators in this left-leaning blue state passed laws banning firearms from places of worship and in particular churches based upon an archaic 1913 law suggesting guns had no place in a House of God. But fortunately, two astute church leaders sued to strike down the New York State law based on a ruling by our nation’s top court that found an archaic 1913 rule that kept guns out of such places unconstitutional.

U.S. District Federal Court Judge John Sinatra took 40 pages of some amazing judicial scholarship to outline reasons why carrying guns in a church is a necessary right. I know judges who can’t even count to 40 let alone write 40 pages of such remarkable reasoning!

It is interesting to note that the plaintiffs did not use any biblical references in their argument. I don’t understand this. It would seem logical to refer to some of the thousands of references to Jesus as someone who was probably the only white guy in ancient history to enter Bethlehem not carrying a weapon. Just look at what happened to Him.

With social media full of hate and news of mass shootings it is good to know that the clergy is looking out for us. This kind of reasoning paves the way for the Pope to mandate priests carry at least small revolvers to help enforce many of the Catholic Church’s stands on abortion, same-sex marriage, and the rules against the ordination of women.

It seems like it would put an end to these controversies once and for all and be better for everyone if we all knew priests were armed and dangerous.

I do have to admit though, it does give me pause to wonder; just what would Jesus do, and what would be his weapon of choice?
