Hey, did you hear that Ginni Thomas was at the Stop the Steal rally on January 6? You know who Ginni Thomas is, right?

Wife of Clarence Thomas who just happens to be an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court? One of the people who is hearing and deciding cases stemming from the insurrection on January 6?

And who is not recusing himself from any of them?

Recusal is what judges do when they are presented with a case to which they have personal ties. The idea is that because they or a family member has ties to the case, they cannot be impartial. They step away and let other judges do the judging.

So here we have an associate justice of the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, refusing to recuse himself from cases that may involve, directly or indirectly, his own wife.

I guess he thinks that nobody has ever heard of “pillow talk.”

How is he even getting away with this? Well, it turns out that Supreme Court justices are the only judges in the entire judicial system who are not bound by the Code of Conduct for Federal Judges.
