Asian Trump Supporter Upset When She Gets COVID-19 Abuse
Kathryn Zhu is an idiot. Period. She’s part of a group of young conservatives of color who feel comfortable rubbing shoulders with white nationalists. There are others like Zhu, such as Proud Boys Chair Enrique Tarrio, insurrectionist Ali Alexander and writer Michelle Malkin, who’s of Filipino descent. Malkin, once a nationally-syndicated columnist, has been axed from mainstream media for associating with neo-fascists such as Nick Fuentes. Fuentes is also a Holocaust denier.

“Young Americans for Freedom promptly fired Malkin while denouncing racism and antisemitism. Prior to her firing, during a November 14, 2019 speech, Malkin announced that the white supremacist ‘great replacement’ theory ‘isn’t a conspiracy theory’ but rather a ‘conspiracy fact,’” according to Angry White Men, a website the far-right.

Zhu became a national story in 2019 when she was stripped of the Miss Michigan title for making anti-Black and anti-Muslim social media posts. Xenophobia is an essential part of Trumpism.
“One of the Twitter posts in question read, ‘Did you know that the majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks? Fix problems within your own community first before blaming others,’” according to ABC News. “The other read, ‘There is a ‘try a hijab on’ booth at my college campus. So you’re telling me that it’s now just a fashion accessory and not a religious thing? Or are you just trying to get women used to being oppressed under Islam?’”
After she was removed from her position, Zhu said that coming out as a conservative was harder than coming out as gay. Yeah, I remember all the times when people declaring their political stance got them fired or marked for death.

However, Zhu didn’t wise up then. She had to learn her lesson the really hard way. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Zhu decried anti-Asian rhetoric and seemed shocked that the neo-Nazis she rubbed shoulders with turned on her. I guess she didn’t read the handbook.
“Zhu, who is of Chinese descent, objected to racist jokes about eating bats in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak,” said Angry White Men. “In one tweet, Zhu wrote, ‘Do NOT blame innocent Chinese people for the virus.’ (Ashley Rae) Goldenberg retweeted her with the comment, ‘Fam she’s totally eaten a live bat before.’ In a January 26, 2020 tweet, Goldenberg wrote that the ‘real racism’ was Zhu ‘defending bat eating and simping for Andrew Yang because she puts her Chinese identity first.’”
When you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas, and when you lie down with neo-Nazis, they might try to light you on fire — a lesson I hope Zhu has learned.
