In Portuguese literature, in the greatest book ever written in my language, there is a character known to all: the Old Man of Restelo.

Unlike everyone who encouraged the navigators, the old man, averse to change and daring ventures, cursed their departure.

This character serves as a timeless reminder of a persistent facet of humanity: those who criticize those who dare to challenge the status quo, to be bold, and to fight for a better world.

They’ve always existed, and in our modern era, their voices echo louder than ever, amplified through diverse communication channels, social media, and the cacophony of misguided dissent that, once again, stubbornly clings to the wrong side of history.

History shows this constantly. In 1960s America, while many recognized the righteousness of the wide protests at the time, reactionary voices vehemently opposed the movement.
