Does DeSantis Only Enforce Anti-Riot Laws on Black Protestors?

In the wake of the George Floyd Protests over racial equality, Florida passed one of the nation’s most draconian, anti first amendment laws I have ever seen.

And I lived through the Trump administration!

Slickly branded as an “anti-riot” measure, the law included the controversial provision of making it legal to ram your car into protestors who are blocking a road.

But that’s not all! Here are some other gems of the Florida law:

— Destroying a confederate plaque or statue is now a second degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

— Takes away local government’s autonomy to set its own police budget.

— Denies bail to anyone accused of “rioting” until after their first court appearance.

Florida’s ACLU released an adequate response,

“Those individuals who do not engage in any violent conduct under this bill can be arrested and charged with a third-degree felony and face up to five years in prison and loss of voting rights. The whole point of this is to instill fear in…
