Polkamarkets Monthly Recap — November 2022
In November, the Polkamarkets Labs team launched a surprise for the community: the Illuminate Fantasy League, a fantasy predictions tournament focused on the 2022 Football World Cup and powered by Polkamarkets Protocol V2.
Announcing Illuminate Fantasy League, Powered by Polkamarkets
The IFL was our special way of joining the Moonbeam community in the Illuminate/22 Cup, a special engagement campaign involving several projects in the ecosystem and focused around the World Cup.
We used the opportunity to showcase what can be done with Polkamarkets Protocol V2, and to demonstrate the team’s ability to deliver a project and campaign during a bear market.
Using the ERC-20 token and Multiple Outcomes features of V2, Polkamarkets Labs created a synthetic token with no monetary value, the $IFL token, that is used exclusively in the Fantasy league and allows players to predict which teams will win matches, or whether matches will end up in a draw.
With more than 500 Moonbeam users already playing, we look forward to the most exciting part of the World Cup: the Quarter-Finals and beyond (read more).
Ricardo Marques at Moonbeam Illuminate 2022
Ricardo Marques, CEO of Polkamarkets Labs, spoke at this year’s Illuminate/22 conference, a yearly conference that puts builders from the Moonbeam ecosystem on stage, and showcased how we leveraged the Polkamarkets Tech Suite to create the Illuminate Fantasy League Protocol and Web Application, including new features from Polkamarkets Protocol V2.
Polkamarkets For Developers
The Polkamarkets Tech Suite is free, open-source software that anyone can use to integrate prediction markets into their communities, products or businesses. In November, we released a full page on our website dedicated to Developers, adding to the already-existing Developer documentation, that showcases and highlights the tools in the Polkamarkets Tech Suite and how they can be used by other developers. What’s next?
Thanks to the IFL, we’ve learned a lot about the performance of multiple outcomes in Polkamarkets Protocol V2, and about how ERC-20 tokens can be used beyond the obvious use-cases of stablecoin support. We’re already applying those learnings and fine-tuning the upcoming release of the Protocol, and the improved web application.
