Did you know September is Environmental Awareness Month? And at Pollinate, we’re so ready for it. Here’s how we’re going to soulfully celebrate this month…
POLLINATE MONTHLY SPECIAL SERIES — September 2022
Each month, we host a series of stories focusing on a central, topical theme. We present this theme to our writers and challenge them to consider this topic as it applies to their lives. Last month, we focused on the theme of Sex & Erotica. This month, we’re going to explore the theme of Nature.
What does nature mean to you? How does it fit into your life? How do you connect with the outside world? What have you learned about it that makes your soul sing? How do you feel about the way it’s been commodified by our capitalistic world? What are your fears and hopes for this beautiful place we call home?
We’d love to hear your thoughts. We’re looking for essays, articles, op-eds, poetry… Get creative! If you need some inspiration, check out our Nature section.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, September 12th. Please use the tag “NATURE 2022.”
Everyone’s articles for this month’s theme will be published on Monday, September 19th. (See the note below to learn more about how our series publication process works.)
We’re also taking submissions for nature photos! The original deadline was September 1st, but hey, we’ll give you an extra week! We’d like to feature these on the Pollinate social media accounts, with credit given to the photographers. You can send your photos to hello@pollinateritual.com by September 8th.

A note about the monthly series:
Typically, we will publish all the articles on the third or fourth Monday of each month. This way, we can capture readers as they are engaging, giving them a chance to continue exploring the theme with other articles in the series. In other words, they can “binge” the material.
We find this attracts and retains readers more than a daily release of each article, and it allows us to publish as many articles as we can, whereas a daily release would limit that.
Each writer will be featured individually on Pollinate’s Instagram account, so every article gets its own “day in the spotlight.”
Our Month in Review
AUGUST SPECIAL SERIES: SEX & EROTICA
Oh my, did we have fun with this one. These hot and sultry days of our waning summer season brought out the best in our writers. We covered sacred sexuality, sexual connection, the exploration of our personal sexual expression, and…we have two of the steamiest poems you’ve ever laid eyes upon. Sex, for us, is all about the soul — so come dive in with us.

Looking Forward
UPCOMING OCTOBER SPECIAL SERIES: FORGIVENESS
Yep. Take a breath with us on that one. As always, we’re going straight for the soul.
In the northern hemisphere, October is often associated with death — and with death always comes the necessity to let go of what has been lost in order to transform into a phase of rebirth.
When it comes to the soul, forgiveness is often that part of the process in which we determine that it’s time to lay certain things to rest and move on without carrying all that additional weight.
How do you feel about forgiveness? What does it mean to you? How do you practice it in your life? What are you willing to forgive at this point in your journey?
The deadline is Monday, October 17th. (To be published the following Monday. Use the tag FORGIVENESS 2022.)

The ritualistic nature of writing makes this a natural extension of the Pollinate experience — every writer, after all, goes through a similar process that leads them from inspiration to the finished product. Our monthly series allows us to create a community space around shared themes, harnessing the power of the ritual of writing.
