Easy steps to add a link to a file or folder in Apple Notes on Mac:
- In Finder, press and hold “Option,” then right-click the file.pdf or folder you want to link. Select Copy “file.pdf” as Pathname.
- In the Notes app, choose Edit > Add Link. In the“Linked to:” field, paste the copied pathname (Command+V) and insert “file://” at the very beginning
That’s it!
For example, if your file is named file.pdf and it’s located at /Users/bob/file.pdf on your Mac, the “Linked to:” field will display “file:///Users/bob/file.pdf”. Yup, there are a total of three forward slashes before “Users”!
As of November 9, 2023, Apple’s official documentation does not provide instructions on how to link to folders or files in Apple Notes on a Mac.
