Have you heard of Inversion Table Polyamory? Water Table Polyamory?

I shrugged off my towel and stepped into the backyard hot tub where my husband and his other live-in partner — my metamour — were soaking under a star-speckled sky.

My husband said, “We were talking about how some polyamorists consider kitchen table polyamory the pinnacle of poly community because polycule members feel comfortable enough with each other to share a meal, and how garden party polyamory is for polyamorists who don’t integrate as well but can put up with each other for a birthday celebration or occasional polycule gathering.”

“But” my metamour continued, “how many polycules are close enough to practice hot tub polyamory, where everyone is at ease being naked together in the hot tub?”

“True,” I said, as I eased my bare ass into the one-hundred-degree water. “Hot tub polyamory assumes a high level of comfort with fellow members of the polycule.”

From the experiences of our close-knit polycule, we devised new polyamory terms — driving the “table” reference into the ground with the force of Thor’s hammer. Look for them in an Urban Dictionary near you.**
