Love Multiplied, Not Divided: How Polyamory Could Solve Child Welfare Issues
A Personal Vision for Future Family Dynamics
A multitude of children around the globe live without the support of a loving family. Trapped in the heart-wrenching conditions of orphanages or left to fend for themselves on dangerous streets, they represent a crisis that humanity cannot afford to ignore. Yet, the prevalent answer seems to be producing more offspring, thereby escalating the strain on our planet’s limited resources.
In my past work, I’ve explored related concepts, such as in my piece “Pass on Your Values, Not Your Genes: The Adoption Revolution.” Here, I delved into the ethical implications of antinatalism, questioning the unchecked propagation of our species in the face of widespread child neglect and abandonment. While this perspective may seem stringent to some, it opened a vital dialogue about responsible procreation and the emphasis on adoption.
“Conscientious natalism” encapsulates a mindful and more holistic approach to the topic of procreation and child-rearing, focusing on the quality of life we provide children, and the conditions we leave behind for future generations.
