Passing the classes that matter!

In preparation for the upcoming recall election, we are proud to present our grades for California Governor Gavin Newsom! Check out Political Economists episode 21 for Max and Jorrel’s full Newsom discussion.

International: B

Gavin’s handling his stuff, but nothing blows our minds. From his assertion that there isn’t a border crisis in California, promoting international free trade, and making San Francisco a Sanctuary City while he was mayor, Newsom’s international policy is good enough to keep California afloat but clearly isn’t his area of focus.

Domestic: B+

While we’re intrigued by Gavin’s plans to overhaul healthcare and transportation in California, we need to see him successfully implement these ambitious, future-minded reforms before we can give him an A. But the outstanding B+ grade is given because he is planning an honest attempt to help California and that’s way farther than most politicians these days. If he fails, he goes out swinging for the fences.

Economic: B

Since 2010, one in every seven new jobs has been created in California. That’s pretty good! Governor Newsom’s business grants and Competitiveness Agenda are keeping California on the path of economic prosperity, but there’s still plenty of room to grow and achieve California’s unlimited economic potential. We’d like to see him start by tackling the energy crisis and continuing to invest in planet-friendly infrastructure.

Social: A+

Gavin is our first politician to receive an A+ in any report card category! He firmly stands behind the values of Californian people on all of their important issues: he is a staunch defender of women’s healthcare, saved over 700 people’s lives by eliminating the death penalty, and is vehemently marijuana-friendly. The only thing he can improve upon is communicating these positions to Californians before the recall election!

Villain: F-

From our experience living in California, all of the things we heard about governor Newsom led us to believe we were covering a villain, But we were blown away by his people-first policies and ability to get shit done. He was the good guy all along!
