Wig Party Chronicles #0: The Inception
by Max Ronquillo and Michael Greenwald
…We call upon the people to resurrect the political will of our nation. Today and this day forward we remember the words of our founding brethren to bring back a stronger union of people and reestablish a good-natured governing body. The Federalist Papers’ inception brought confidence to the people of a budding nation. Our society faces a crisis similar to the period before the first constitutional convention: our very system of government needs a revision. The blame should not be placed on any single governing official, but on the body as a whole for mismanaging civil rights, taxes, debt, and war without consequence for decades. Our government does not reflect the will of the people; our government levies its power to oppress voters and maintain rule.
But the fate of the United States of America lies not in the hands of our current leaders, it lies in the hearts of every single American who wishes for democracy and freedom. The time is now. Humanity naturally comes together in order to create strong communities — and in return, we create a government for protection. No matter what side of the political aisle you currently reside, we all endure the corrupt leadership that goes against the wishes of the entire American public. No recent administration has delivered the economic and social safety that continue to promise the American working-class voter. The obstacles we face are great in number, but not greater than the collective power of our political voice. Lasting, meaningful change must come from within each sector of the larger community; we cannot keep waiting for scraps to trickle down from the top of the political food chain.
While we will never create a perfect, utopic governing body, we need representation that will serve the interest of the voting class. The political will needed to take on this Leviathan is one that will need compromise, passion, and tolerance in order to achieve a greater state of organic society. We the people are the gatekeepers of our own liberty. We are to blame for the governing body’s mismanagement of our public affairs. And it is our duty to take back the power from the state, because we are the true holders of freedom.
“AFTER an unequivocal experience of the inefficiency of the subsisting federal government…” -A. Ham
….The inception of the United States of America was framed by virtues of the most intelligent and honest men of their time; to guarantee each individual’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, to create a scrupulous governing body who reflects the kindness and ambition of its people. With these sincerely held pillars as their guide, constitutional conventions hallmarked by discourse and compromise created the longest standing democratic nation in the world and the blueprint for countless revolutions to follow. Since our nation’s inception, the American people, states, and representatives have battled for their opposing visions for the future of our nation, but for too long they have fought against the wrong enemy: each other. Their ire should not be placed on a single person, party, or branch, but on the entire governing body for tolerating and perpetuating the undemocratic mechanisms that built their own road to power. True criticism of the government cannot come from within the institution. Top-down change is anything but. Real, lasting change must come from the will of the people and we cannot settle for anything less. The cries of the American people have fallen on the same deaf ears for too long.
When the Articles of Confederation failed to uphold the principles of the American Revolution, the country’s brightest political thinkers tasked themselves with imagining a replacement. They published newspapers and pamphlets, they debated in taverns and conventions, and the outcome was a strong central government and a guarantee that individual freedoms shall not be infringed. In the two centuries since this institution has been properly re-examined, the working class has suffered at the hands of the elite. The present constitutional governing body does not preserve the prosperity of the American people. Wrangling the Leviathan is our only option. Armed with the knowledge of centuries of the world’s brightest thinkers, and united in our principles that our founding fathers risked their lives to protect, we the people propose an acknowledgement that systematic constitutional changes must be made to ensure that our representatives’ interests are analogous to our own.
